This workshop for expectant parents facilitates community
and knowledge-sharing in preparation for the postpartum period. We will gather to
get to know other parents-to-be in the neighbourhood and learn essential information
about the postpartum period (especially the first 6 weeks after birth), while
we busy our hands in the assembly of a “healing basket.” In addition to their
baskets, participants will leave with resources and information about local
supports for new parents. Topics include: physical changes; food and healing;
sleep; newborn care; maternal mental health; requesting and receiving help from
support people; etc. And, there will samples of my postpartum cooking!
Intended for parents-to-be between 30 and 40 weeks along, though expectant parents at any stage in their pregnancies are welcome. Each birthing person
may bring one other person with them (partner or other support person).
Day/time: November 29, 2025. 12:00 – 2:00PM.
Price: $35 for 1 birthing person; $50 for birthing person
and partner/support person
Price includes the cost of materials for baskets
Location: Dependent on how many people register, the workshop
will take place either in my home (in South Dartmouth) or at a local community space (such as the North Woodside Comm. Centre).
