Local property tax is a primary source of revenue for our communities. It funds essential services such as local hospitals, EMTs, fire rescue, disaster preparedness and recovery, youth programs, libraries, parks, summer camps, road maintenance, and many other services residents rely on. If Amendment 3 passes, cities and counties will be forced to cut grant funding and contracts with nonprofits while raising taxes and fees to cover the shortfall.
Nonprofit organizations are trusted, credible messengers in their communities. While our sector has a lot to lose, we are also uniquely positioned to mobilize voters to stop it. This isn't a political fight. This is about identifying what your organization and community will lose if Amendment 3 passes and communicating that broadly. We can explain better than anyone how our communities will suffer without these vital programs.
We NEED nonprofits to win! Depending on your capacity, audience, and mission, there are several ways your organization can make an impact.
