Founded in 1966, the Duke Lemur Center (DLC) houses the world’s largest and most diverse population of lemurs outside their native Madagascar. As part of their fundraising efforts, you can donate to DLC by adopting a lemur for a year. The money goes toward supporting the care of the lemurs, as well as DLC's work in research and conservation. You can read more about the programme
here.
In 2022, the Legal Nomads community adopted two lemurs, a Coquerel's Sifaka named Cornelia, and an Aye-aye named Martha. We got great updates during the year, including that Cornelia had a baby, Pompeia, and I shared these with the people who supported the adoption with a pledge.
(For clarity, this is a symbolic adoption to raise money for lemurs; we will not actually own a lemur.)If you'd like to join us for another year, PLEASE FILL OUT THE FORM BELOW so I know what lemur you love, then send your pledge
to jettenberg@gmail.com with your contribution via(a) a "friends and family" PayPal donation, or
(b) a bank e-transfer if you are in Canada
Any amount of donations is fine, big or small! It will all be added to the total. I will also contribute $50 of my own money regardless of what you all donate. I will share the adoption certificate and photo of our lemur when we adopt.
