Online Plagiarism Tutorial and Certification - Student Feedback: Spring 2015

You have successfully completed the online plagiarism prevention tutorials and the certification test. We need feedback about your experience for critical evaluation and any possible improvement of the online plagiarism prevention tutorials.

Your responses in the survey will be used to better design and evaluate the tutorials, which is part of a research project entitled “Design and Evaluation of Online Plagiarism Prevention Tutorials in the ESL Writing Service Program.” This project will be conducted by Randall Sadler, Jill Tschopp, Jinhee Choo, and Jin Kim from the Department of Linguistics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In this project, the researchers will collect both survey data and online log at the course management system (Compass2g.illinois.edu).

The completion of the survey will not require more than 15 minutes for completion. There are no anticipated risks greater than what might be experienced in normal life. The identifiable log data will be collected automatically by the course management system as you complete the tutorials. When the data is used for research, all identifiable names or information will be removed and/or replaced to ensure confidentiality. The results of research developed from the analyses of the survey data and online logs will be used to determine the effectiveness of the online tutorials for learning and teaching, and may be shared in an academic presentation, journal article, or as part of a future research project.

Your participation is completely voluntary and your choice to participate or not will not impact your grades or your status at the University. Your instructor will not be aware of your choice to participate or not. The data used for research will be kept confidential, and you will not be identified in any reports of the research.
