District 11 Basketball New Member Information
We are excited you're interested in officiating middle and high school basketball in South Carolina.  Potential members will find that we truly welcome new officials to our area.  Below, we will provide you with information regarding our avocation.

In South Carolina, varsity scheduling is handled by a central office in Columbia.  There are 12 associations-throughout the state (called districts).  The districts are responsible for the training and education of officials that live within their geographic borders as well as scheduling of games on the sub-varsity level, pre-season and holiday tournament games, scrimmages and jamborees.  Our local district is comprised of Horry, Georgetown and Williamsburg counties.  We are known as District 11 of the South Carolina Basketball Officials Association.  Please see our website at www.scboa11.com for more information regarding the local district and items of note for new officials.

Moving forward, applicants need several items to submit
- State application with appropriate fee ($55)
- Documentation from an accredited state association
- If you have any past experience on the high school level, I will need documentation from your former association that details past experience.  This is important because it will give you “points” in the state’s ratings.
- If you do NOT have past experience on the high school level, disregard this component
- Local application with appropriate fee ($30)
- Physical form stating wellness to officiate basketball

As stated earlier, all varsity-level games are scheduled from Columbia using a web-based scheduling tool called ArbiterSports.  As a local district, we also schedule all sub-varsity level games using The Arbiter (thus, you will eventually have two ArbiterSports “groups” that you belong to).  As a new or transfer official, our district requires that new members make yourself available (at least once weekly during the season) to officiate sub-varsity level games.   Of course, we prefer less-seasoned officials to try and gain as much on-court experience as possible via sub-varsity assignments or local recreation league games.

Once you review the information, please feel contact us if you have any questions, as I am here to assist in any way possible.  The District Director's phone, website and e-mail is below.  It would be beneficial for you to provide some background information about yourself as well:
