Wikis are collaborative online environments in which users can publish writing as well as add elements to their pages such as images, videos, slide shows, polls, audio, and thousands of other widgets available online. In addition to merely collaborating on publishing documents, users can discuss the pages on the discussion tab forums. Also, all past edits can be tracked and users can revert back to past edits.
Wikis can be used for teacher websites as well as collaborative platforms for students to work together and showcase their learning.
To get a better overview of Wikispaces, check out the Wikispaces eToolbox page:

WSD has what is called a "Private Label" Wikispace under which wikis can be created for teachers and students in the district. Although you could also create an educational Wikispace at Wikispaces.com, it is best to use the private label because all students, teachers and administrators in WSD already have accounts within the wiki and no accounts will need to be created.
