Community Calendar Submission

BMAGIC’s Community Calendar is a compilation of activities, programs, workshops, and opportunities that positively impact the Bayview Hunters Point community in the areas of - employment, internships, affordable housing, events, funding, scholarships, local media, professional development, advocacy, and education.

We update our calendar weekly and publish a PDF version every Tuesday. Anyone is welcome to advertise their services in our calendar as long as the services are open to the public and are of considerable value to community members.

To be added to the BMAGIC listserv and receive the full calendar in a PDF format please e-mail community@bayviewmagic.org or call 415-642-8017 with your full name and email address.

All entries are due on Monday by 2pm for the Tuesday publication. All entries will be published until the event date passes. Entries without an end date will be published for 30 days, unless we are otherwise instructed. To submit entries, for more information or if you have any questions please contact Kayla, BMAGIC Community Outreach & Program Assistant at 415-642-8017 or kayla@bayviewmagic.org.

Thank you.

This exhibit will highlight how Sneaker Culture first emerged from Hip Hop and the rise of Black athletes in the NBA during the 1970s and 1980s. On playgrounds and city streets, Black youth would adopt the cutting-edge styles and attitudes of New York City’s freshest and flyest streetball legends, B-boys, and graffiti artists--figures who proudly wore their sneakers not just to display their extraordinary basketball talents and dance moves, but as expressions of style and individuality.
