The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) Unit's DC Child Care Centers Promoting Lifelong Activity in Youth (P.L.A.Y.) Program at the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) will be hosting two physical activity/education curriculum trainings with trainers Natii Wright (My Little World Educational Music Series) and Dr. Diane Craft (Active Play).

Your center/school may select only ONE of the two curricula trainings being offered this Spring and may bring 1-2 staff members to participate (teachers are encouraged to attend the training).

Dr. Diane Craft’s Active Play Training
Enjoy Dr. Diane Craft’s highly regarded Active Play! Preschool Physical Activity training. Learn fun, inclusive, developmentally appropriate physical activities that use inexpensive equipment, small spaces, and work well in center-based childcare and preschool settings. Learn the importance of physical activity to the physical, emotional and cognitive development of young children. Dr. Craft’s enthusiastic presentation style provides for plenty of interesting and fun hands-on, practical experiences for participants.

 Natii Wright’s “My Little World” Educational Music Series: Your Heart Jumps to the Beat Training
The “My Little World” Educational Music Series is a vibrant interactive tool. It is designed to be incorporated into the curricula of early educators, as they engage children, by providing lessons that teach physical movement, early literacy and pre-math concepts, while promoting 60-minutes of healthy physical activity and healthy eating habits.

Who Should Attend: Pre-Kindergarten and Child Care Center Staff, participants of the DC Child Care Centers P.L.A.Y. Program
Registration
Registration ends Friday, April 24th. A confirmation e-mail will be sent to you by the OSSE. Each center will receive a FREE copy of the trainer's curricula/manual and CD the day of the training.

NOTE: If you attended the SPARK ECE training last November, you will automatically be placed on the waiting list for the training. Priority seating will be reserved for PLAY Program participants who have not attended a prior curriculum training.

Lunch will NOT be provided during either trainings.

The trainings are metro accessible and the nearest metro station is the Judiciary Square metro stop located on the red metro lines. Street parking is limited and the available parking spaces are on a 2 hour time limit.  

By attending either trainings, your center will automatically be noted as a participant of the DC Child Care Center P.L.A.Y. Program.
