YOU! (yup, you.) Do you long for greatness? Do you want to serve your parish, your peers, your school? Are you a leader who wants to encourage others? (are you looking for tons of service hours?) then… I CHALLENGE you to rise up and serve St. Andrew parish as a member of the high school leadership team What is the Leadership Team? The Team is a group of high school students who serve their peers through their leadership in youth group. The Leadership Team is filled with men and women who exemplify servant leadership and who have a desire to lead other teens to Jesus Christ. The Team’s primary mission is to reach out and to love every high school student at St. Andrew parish and to model Christ to others. What is expected from the Leadership Team? We expect Commitment, Consistency, and Service.
Commitment to… Living the life of a disciple Cultivating a personal prayer life, attending Sunday Mass, frequenting the sacrament of Confession and avoiding major sin are expectations we have for our leadership team. Be willing to make our Sunday night meetings a priority! Obviously things will come up, but we expect you to be present as often as possible so that you can love and serve the other students of the parish! Each member of the Leadership Team will be expected to attend a weekend retreat in August, and once a month meetings that will begin one hour before youth group.
Consistency… You see, sometimes people are entirely different when they are at school, or with their family; at church or with their friends; online or in person. But, a follower of Christ seeks to be a disciple no matter who they are with. Listen, not one of us is perfect yet and we know that you’ll sin. We are simply looking for men and women who, no matter how many times they fall, get back up every time to follow after Christ.
Service… Like we said before, your primary mission is to love and to serve your peers. This means reaching out to everyone in youth group, not just your friends. A leader is bold and reaches out to new students. Ultimately, a leader needs to have a heart for service and to be ready to serve in whatever way they are asked. Sometimes it will be leading a game, giving a testimony, or helping clean up. Other times it will be helping put up a new bulletin board, or brainstorming ideas for a Confirmation retreat. Serving God is often exciting, but sometimes it’s also hard. We are looking for men and women who love a challenge and who are excited to serve God in a new way! So, consider my challenge. Apply for Leadership Team, and experience youth ministry in a new and exciting way.
