Get on stage at OMS with Opera for the Young! We are looking for a group of fourth and fifth grade students to join the professional singers of OFTY at our next Cultural Arts assembly on March 8.

Opera for the Young® brings live, professional opera to elementary school audiences with annual Fall and Spring tours. Students appear onstage in chorus and cameo roles, performing for their peers right alongside OFTY’s professional artists. All productions are fully staged, sung in English and adapted especially for kids.

Performances of Beauty and the Beast with Opera for the Young will take place during the school day on Friday, March 8, 2024 at 9:15 am and 2:30 pm in the OMS Commons.

The Student Chorus is open to up to sixteen fourth grade students and up to sixteen fifth grade students from OMS. 

The student chorus will learn several lines from various songs in the show and will sing them as a group with the professional singers.

All preparation for the student chorus will be done at home using video tutorials. Check them out here to see if this is something you and your child are able to commit to preparing for at home.

The fourth grade student chorus will perform at 9:15 am on March 8. Fourth grade student chorus members will need to arrive by 8:30am on March 8 to rehearse. They will be excused from their class until after the performance. 

The fifth grade student chorus will perform at 2:30pm on March 8. Fifth grade student chorus members will be excused from class beginning at 1:45 to rehearse with OFTY until after the performance.

Two adult guests may attend their child's performance on March 8.
