2026-2027 CWC+ Application 

This 2027 CWC+ (Clean Energy Workforce Competition) will be delivered as a regional event hosted by partners across the western, central, and eastern United States.  While this year’s competition will not include cash prizes, it will retain the core educational elements of the traditional CWC model.  


Interested teams must submit this application by 5 p.m. MT on September 30, 2026. It is required that a student leader develops and submits the application in partnership with faculty. Teams will not be eligible to compete if an application is not submitted by the deadline.

Introduction (10% weight; 1250 character limit):  Provide a brief overview of your team, your motivation for participating in the competition, and your commitment to engaging in CWC educational activities (e.g., webinars, SME talks, tool overviews). *
Educational Objectives and Integration (35% weight; 2000 character limit):  Describe how the team will integrate the competition into academic experiences. This may include coursework, research projects, independent study, scholarships, or other programs that support competition-related work. If formal integration isn’t possible, explain alternative strategies such as remote learning, industry partnerships, mentorships, or student clubs. *
Organization and Project Planning (30% weight; 2000 character limit):  Provide a detailed plan for how the team will organize and execute competition activities. Address: 1) How the team will manage project tasks, including overcoming scheduling and collaboration challenges; 2) Institutional departments engaged in supporting the team and how they will contribute; 3) Student recruitment strategies, including outreach beyond engineering disciplines; 4) Planned team structure, meeting frequency, and key milestones; and 5) Plans for building and leveraging industry connections. *
Fundraising (25% weight; 1250 character limit): Explain how the team will secure resources needed for participation, such as travel funding, software, materials, and project management tools. *
