HJS Pupil Cycle Licence 2022/23

Hampton Junior School encourages staff, parents and pupils to walk or cycle to school.  In order to facilitate this, the school has a bike store situated behind the main building. Bicycles stored on the school site are left at the owner’s risk and the school cannot accept any liability for damage or loss of property. 

In order to leave a bike at school you will need a licence. This licence is issued with the following conditions. Please read carefully the conditions below and complete the form to say that you are prepared to accept them.

As a pupil I will agree to:

1. Always wear a cycle helmet when riding my bike 

2. Always cycle in a safe, responsible way taking care to consider all other road users and pedestrians 

3. Get off my bike at the school gate and never cycle in the school playground

4. Secure my bike with a lock in the school bike store 

5. Take my bike home everyday and not leave it in the school bike store overnight unless permitted to do so

6. Accept that if I leave my bike at school that the school can not accept responsibility for any damage or theft

As a parent/Carer I will agree to:

1. Ensure my child always wears a cycle helmet 

2. Take responsibility for my child’s journey to school and ensure my child is aware of all other road users and pedestrians 

3. Ensure my child understands the need to get off their bike at the school gate and never cycle in the school playground

4. Ensure my child has a suitable lock to secure their bike in the school bike store 

5. Ensure my child takes their my bike home everyday 

6. Accept that if a bike is stored at school that the school can not accept responsibility for any damage or theft
