Welcome! Please complete this form to join rainbowR.
rainbowR is a community that supports, promotes and connects LGBTQ+ people who code in the R language.
We use LGBTQ+ people as a term to cover:
- those who identify as being a minority sexual orientation, i.e. those who are not straight/heterosexual
- those who are not cisgender, i.e. those whose sense of personal identity and gender does not correspond with their gender assigned at birth.
To our straight, cis friends: we very much appreciate your allyship and your support of rainbowR, e.g. by sharing our information and posts on social media and by telling your friends and colleagues about us, but we ask you, please, not to register for the community.
The rainbowR Slack is where most of the activity happens in our group. It's a space for informal chat as well as organised discussions, e.g. hosted coffee chats, reading groups, etc. We will share information about our activities within this space, and well as on Mastodon,
https://tech.lgbt/@rainbowR and through a mail list (we need your permission to add you to it).
Please take a moment to review the rainbowR Code of Conduct, available at
https://rainbowr.org/coc - it helps to keep our community a safe and welcoming place!
rainbowR leadership uses this form to process requests to join the rainbowR community. Once approved, you will:
- be sent a personal welcome e-mail by a member of the rainbowR team (N.B. from April 12th-24th 2025, the rainbowR team is on holiday, so will send welcome emails when we’re back).
- be sent an automated e-mail with a link to register for the Slack group - once you have that, please feel free to introduce yourself in the #welcome channel
- be added to the rainbowR mail-list, if you've given that permission. Please make sure that
hello@rainbowr.org is in your address book (we have had some issues with people not receiving some messages)
Please don't hesitate to contact the organizers if you have any questions or concerns,
hello@rainbowr.org.
We are excited to have you join!
