HORTULUS Request for Proposal 2018-2019
Hortulus, founded in 1930, is a member of The Garden Club of America. Our Mission is to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening and creative design; protect, restore and improve the quality of the environment through education, programs and action in the fields of conservation and civic improvement.
The Finance Committee of Hortulus reviews and evaluates requests from 501(c)(3) organizations seeking financial support of $1,000 or more from our Charitable Civic Fund. Organizations and their projects must be consistent with our Mission Statement and have a Hortulus sponsor. The Finance Committee makes recommendations to the Executive Board of Hortulus and to the General Membership of the Club for approval.
Grants are made only to 501(c)(3) organizations. Priority is given to organizations in the Greenwich area. Grants are not made to operating funds or endowments. Recipients will be required to send a detailed follow-up report indicating how the funds were spent and to be available upon request to host an on-site visit. The funding of grants is conditional and an inability to utilize the funds according to guidelines within the time frame could result in our rescinding the grant.
