PE/Healthful Living (semester or year long): A combination of health education and physical education in which students learn a variety of skills that enhance a person’s quality of life. One semester required for each student.

Band (year long): Students will learn to play a beginning band instrument. Students must be prepared to rent or purchase their own instrument. Students will also be responsible for purchasing a band book and related supplies for their instrument. Sixth grade is the only opportunity to begin taking band.

Strings (Year Long): Students will participate in a course focusing on orchestral stringed instruments. The year will culminate with students performing in a concert. Students must be prepared to rent or purchase their own instrument.

Project Lead the Way--Design & Modeling (semester): Design and Modeling PLTW is a science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) course where students explore the engineering design process. Students will be given a problem and asked to design, construct, and test their solutions before determining the best solution from those presented. We also explore different design technologies like computer assisted design (CAD) and 3D printing.

Art (semester) : Students will explore a variety of materials and techniques of 2D and 3D art. This course includes design, drawing, painting, and sculpture. Opportunities will be provided for display and competition.

Spanish (semester) : Students will be developing vocabulary, grammar, and phrases. Spanish listening, reading, speaking, and writing skills will develop through comprehension activities, presentations, and other interactive activities and practices.

Chorus (semester or year long) : Students will learn to sing in unison and two parts. Breathing, posture and vocal techniques will be explored. Students will also learn the building blocks of reading music. The bulk of the grade is based on participation in class. There is one required concert per semester.

Exploring Personal Character and Careers (semester) : Students will explore their interests, attitudes, values, personality, learning styles, & skills. They will then examine how those interests, values, and personalities influence career choices.
