Dear #MuseSocial friends,
We can't march in this year's Pride parade in person—but we can throw a global #MuseumPrideParade. 🌈Join us to simply celebrate Pride.
Priority platform: Twitter
Date: Wednesday, June 10, at 11:00am EST. *
Hashtag: #MuseumPrideParade
Content: Showcase LGBTQIA+ stories and objects from your collection or rainbows in solidarity (historic figures, artwork by artists who identify as LGBT, buttons, historic court cases, flags, Stonewall ephemera, love is love signage, etc). Tag museums or cultural organizations that you're virtually marching with in your post.
Cheers,
Hilary-Morgan Watt & Emily Haight
❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
*Barring any major emergency communications in the world. If the date needs to be moved, you’ll receive communications an hour in advance.
UPDATE:
Given the events of June and campaigns supporting #BlackLivesMatter, and conversations with many of you, we do not feel it is appropriate to flood the feeds with a celebratory campaign of #MuseumPrideParade.
If you’ve already crafted stories that overlap in these realms (as we have), we encourage you to continue the great work and share them this month. However it won’t be under the umbrella of #MuseumPrideParade, the celebratory element hits the wrong note.
Thank you for your patience and support and we recognize how difficult it is to be working online right now. Please reach out if we can help to support your content this month, Pride and amplifying Black voices, we’re just a like or share away!
