NMND Press/Media Registration Application
Nightmare Nights Dallas is an unofficial fan-run convention celebrating My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic run under the direction of the Phoenix Entertainment Media Group, LLC. The staff of Nightmare Nights Dallas encourage press and media organizations as well as fandom media coverage! Please read below for our press policies and application.

Media/Press badges grant base attendee level access to NMND events, programming, and venue along with the ability to request and record interviews with attendees, staff, and guests (with consent and approval). In order to qualify for a press pass you must agree to adhere to Nightmare Nights’ press policies set forth below.

You may wish to print this page for your records. You can also request a separate copy of the press and interview policies by contacting pr@nightmarenights.net.

Press Policies
• It is better to ask for permission than for forgiveness:
If in doubt about any of the policies, ask the convention Press Relations officer or the chairs directly.

• Coverage is by consent only:
You may film panelists presenting in the main events hall or the secondary panel rooms. One or more panelists may request that their panel not be filmed, in which case you are prohibited from recording or uploading footage of the panel in question.

If you are filming the audience, large crowd shots are permitted, but you may not focus recording on any individual attendee without their explicit permission. You must respect the privacy wishes of any attendee at the convention. This rule also applies to vendors in the dealers’ room.

• Access and entry restrictions:
Video recording is allowed within the Gallery, Corral, and common area of the convention.

A press badge grants you early access to programming for the purposes of setting up equipment, but not to the front-row reserved seating, which is reserved for preferred and premium memberships. A press badge does not give you preferred or early access to: autographs, children’s programming, preferred/premium membership only events, such as VIP meet-and-greets, nor any event/panel that requires an additional fee.

• The interview process:
A press badge grants you access to interview opportunities for our Guests of Honor. There is limited time for interviews in our GoHs’ schedules, but we will work hard to facilitate interviews. There may be other factors that affect interviews, such as contractual obligations, so not all GoHs will be available for interviews. Please see the interview request form and interview policy at the bottom of the page for more information about interviews.

• Recording children’s programming:
Recording or photography of children’s-only programming is strictly forbidden without explicit parental consent.

• Quality of recordings:
You are strongly encouraged to film using a stationary tripod positioned near the outside edges of the panel rooms. This allows attendees an unobstructed view of the panelists. If your setup permits it, you are encouraged to use a directional “shotgun” microphone, or to connect to the panel room’s mixer audio, if you have the required cables and logistics allow for this.

We discourage the use of handheld recorders placed on the tables, as this doesn’t provide good audio and can be a distraction to the presenter. It will be allowed only at the discretion of the panelist.

• Timing of uploads:
Panel recordings must be uploaded only after the convention. Other recordings, including interviews, may be uploaded during the convention.

Failure to follow the press or attendee policy may result in the removal of your badge and con privileges. If you have any questions regarding our policy please email pr@nightmarenights.net

Press applications must be completed on or before October 10th for consideration.
Interview Policies
The Nightmare Nights Dallas Press Relations team will work as an intermediary between the Guests of Honor and the press, helping to schedule and facilitate interviews when schedules, contractual obligations and guest preference allow for them.

To make this process easier, we ask that you supply a list of guests you would like to interview as part of your press application.

The following policies apply to your press outlet when conducting interviews at NMND:

• As a press outlet, you are required to work directly with the NMND Press Relations team to facilitate any and all interviews with the Guests of Honor. Any interview requests, additions or changes must be submitted through the NMND Press Relations officer.

• You are not permitted to approach the GoHs directly at any time during the event itself and request an interview that has not already been arranged through NMND. Violation of this policy can (and will) result in removal of your press credentials and restriction of convention access.

• Availability varies by GoH's schedule, including days attending, contractual obligations, agent's input, and GoH's personal preference. GoHs are not required to participate in interviews. Interview slots are available on a first-come, first-served basis and no one is guaranteed an interview.

• The GoH's VIP liaison must be with the GoH at all times including being present during the interview.

• If a GoH is available for an interview before or after normal con hours, time and place is up to you and the GoH had his/her agent; however, a VIP liaison or PR member must be present. Please be aware that many of the GoHs have agendas outside normal con hours.

• If one particular guest is highly requested then a press-conference style interview may be performed in lieu of individual interviews.

• The GoH has the final say when it comes to interviews. If at any time they wish to cancel an interview you must honor that request. If a GoH wishes you to edit something out you must comply.

• You may ask for interviews with our Community Guests or Guest Musicians to the guests personally. Please respect their decisions and wishes.

If you have any questions please email pr@nightmarenights.net.
