To provide a variety of work experiences for the student that contributes to the attainment of his/her career objective.
To employ the student a minimum of 7.5 hours a week for one work release block.
These totals may be averaged over the duration of one Semester and include non-school days.
To employ the student, the entire school calendar year (August 6,2025 to May 15, 2026).
To adhere to policies and practices which prohibit discrimination on the bases of race, color, national origin, sex, and handicap in recruitment, hiring, placement, assignment to work tasks, hours of employment, levels of responsibility, and pay.
To provide instructional materials and occupational guidance to the student.
To evaluate the student, in consultation with the WBL/YAP Coordinator, a minimum of three times per grading period.
To pay the student $_________ per hour.
To be willing to provide a progressive wage scale to all youth apprenticeship students.
To adhere to all federal and state regulations including child labor laws and minimum wage regulations. Students employed through a WBL/YAP program are not eligible for unemployment compensation. However, if an employer employs a WBL/YAP student beyond the last day of school for this school year, then that student should be treated as a regular employee and that student may file unemployment compensation based on current labor laws.
To adhere to income tax and Social Security withholding regulations.
To provide time for consultation with the WBL/YAP coordinator concerning the student and to discuss with the WBL/YAP coordinator any difficulties that may arise.
To inform the WBL/YAP Coordinator before any disciplinary action is taken in regard to the employment of the student.
WBL students may not be considered independent contractors and for IRS purposes cannot be issued an IRS Form 1099 unless the employer has provided proof to the WBL Coordinator of their status under section 530 of the IRS Code.
