The Reproductive Justice Reading Retreat offers a space to explore Reproductive Justice (RJ) as a framework for understanding the conditions under which we live, reproduce, care for one another, and sustain collective life. Bringing together people engaged in different movements across Lebanon, we’ll unpack the political history of RJ, reflect on how struggles over reproduction are connected to wider struggles for land, liberation, healthcare, sexuality, gender, and disability, and consider how these connections can shape our political practices and solidarities.
This retreat will explore Reproductive Justice across the following five themes:
Home / Land / Body / Clinic / Movements
Each participant will receive a booklet containing book excerpts, academic articles, opinion pieces, and personal stories before the retreat. Participants are expected to read the entire booklet, explore one of the themes in greater depth, and lead a discussion on a reading of their choice from the booklet. The sooner you apply and are selected, the earlier you can receive the required reading materials.
With a small number of the readings are in English, the booklets include both Arabic and English texts, with many of the English texts translated into Arabic. Discussion will take place primarily in Arabic, with an Arabic/English mix when needed. You are welcome to use the language you are most comfortable with to present the reading you choose.
Date: Friday, December 11, starting at 7 PM through Sunday, December 13 in the evening.
Location: Details will be shared with selected participants.
Cost: The A Project will cover accommodation, meals, and transportation to and from the retreat.
Apply by: Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at midnight. You will hear back from us the following week, giving you approximately 2-3 weeks to complete the required readings before the retreat.
