What innovation pushed us beyond cavemen?
What innovation launched humankind out of the caves and on the road to civilization as we know it? (We'll debate the merits of that civilization another time.)
Please cast your vote for one
Language/communication (including symbolism, writing, numerals)
Travel/transportation (including the sail and the wheel)
Power generation (including fire which strangely no one mentioned, electricity, and all other forms of fuel)
Agriculture (yes, including the plow--and technically beer should go here...but obviously not in our group's opinion)
Medicine (including antibiotics and anesthesia, and, um, Viagra)
Weapons (I didn’t think this was worthy of inclusion, but “2001: A Space Odyssey” says otherwise)
Beer (because, as Dave Barry and Joel B pointed out, "...the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza")
