Texas' rivers and streams -- from the Rio Grande to the Trinity and Colorado -- are more than just part of our national heritage. They are the lifeblood of our state.
Right now, Texas is suffering from one of the worst droughts in history. Our rivers are running low, and our wildlife and our natural places are suffering. The good news is that right here in Texas, we have all of the water we need -- we just need to get smarter about how we use it. With a $2 billion water bill making its way through the legislature, now is the time to act.
So we’re calling on Governor Perry and the Texas Water Development Board to set aside more funding for water conservation projects -- to keep Texas rivers flowing, protect our wildlife, and ensure that there's enough water for homes, farms, and businesses, now and in the future.
Interns and volunteers will provide support to all aspects of the Save Texas Rivers campaign, including volunteer recruitment, leadership development, media and communications, and grassroots visibility tactics. Interns will have the opportunity to work with Environment Texas volunteers and staff, in the community and on their own campuses.
