Code of Conduct for Players and Parents

The Kent White Sox Travel Baseball League is a competitive youth baseball travel league emphasizing foundational baseball skills while having fun and developing a love for the sport of baseball. The mission of our travel league believes in the power of youth baseball to teach life lessons that build stronger individuals and communities. Through effective leadership, enthusiasm, and commitment, together with training extensions and adherence to rule and policy, Kent White Sox Travel Baseball League provides healthy activity for children using the ballfield as a classroom to instill discipline, teamwork, sportsmanship, and fair play, and to establish a set of values to guide them into adulthood. To better achieve this goal, we are outlining a Code of Conduct for all parents, coaches, spectators and players involved in the Kent White Sox Travel Baseball League. The Code of Conduct is a written contract between the parents, players, and coaches to abide by the rules and regulations of the game as well as maintain a cooperative attitude and uphold the ideals of fair play and sportsmanship. This contract is more than just paper; it is the essence of our goals and objectives and thus, adherence to it is of primary importance. Children who wish to play, parents who want their children to play on Kent White Sox are required to agree to and to sign this Code of Conduct. Thank you for your cooperation.

Another important topic we wanted to discuss with you is the difference between a travel baseball league versus a recreational baseball league. As a travel baseball league player, your child will be expected to compete at a higher level than recreation. Although developing our players’ foundational skills remains our highest priority at this age, this is a competitive league that is also focused on performance-based playing time. Travel baseball playing time is based upon the player’s ability to perform on the field in practice and during game time situations. Everyone will have an opportunity to play, however performance means more than just their baseball skills, it also means their ability to safely play by focusing and attending, behaving appropriately, striving for progress, and showing respect and sportsmanship to all. Please keep this in mind throughout the season. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

PLAYERS CODE OF CONDUCT

All players Will …

1.       Display good sportsmanship, and team play, at all times.

2.       Follow the direction of the Coaching Staff.

3.       Show respect for all opponents, coaches, players, umpires, league officials and spectators.

4.       Make every attempt to be on time and ready to play for all games and practices.

5.       Inform coaching staff in a timely manner when unable to attend practice or games.

All Players Will Not …

1.       Use abusive or profane language.

2.       Taunt or humiliate any other player.

3.       Abuse, mistreat or mishandle any Baseball equipment or property (eg. throwing

batting helmets).

4.       Threaten or fight any person while at any game or practice.

5.       There will be zero tolerance of bullying anyone in this program.

Parents, spectator and players should read and understand this policy prior to joining our league. Any parent, spectator and/or player guilty of improper conduct at any game, practice and/or tournament, that individual will be asked to leave the sports facility and be suspended from the following game. The Board will review all infractions. Depending on the severity or frequency, the Board may assess additional disciplinary action up to and including expulsion from KWSTBL for that individual.
