Clinic Description:
This two-day hands-on saddle fitting clinic is designed for horse owners, enthusiasts, clinicians, Veterinarians, or other equine professionals who want to better understand saddle fit, equine back anatomy, and how saddle fit affects comfort, movement, and performance. Participants will enjoy classroom instruction, hands-on demonstrations, and participate with saddle fitting the demo horses to help understand how to perform basic saddle evaluations. It does not include analysis of participant's own horses, that will be covered in a subsequent clinic. Clinic starts at 11 will go until 3 with a group of 12.
Saturday, September 12th Agenda
11am: 1 hour classroom session w/ PowerPoint presentation going over saddle fitting basics; equine back anatomy, tree basics & terminology, some of the most common fit issues.
12:10pm to 3pm: Afternoon hands-on session will expand upon static evaluation of horse conformation as it pertains to saddle fit, demo of making wire tracings, recognizing the most common saddle fit issues.
Sunday, September 13th Agenda
11am: 1 hour classroom session w/ PowerPoint presentation going over the four foundational body types; broad and straight, broad and curvy, narrow and straight, narrow and curvy. (15min ea.) We will go over examples, common characteristics, and the fitting considerations specific to that body type.
12:10pm to 3pm: Afternoon hands-on session will expand upon static evaluation of each conformation type as it pertains to saddle fit, students will map the major saddle fitting landmarks, saddle support area, make wire tracings of demo horses, and learn to recognize good fit, versus poor fit. Pad and cinch considerations for each body type will be discussed as well.

Clinician Leah Calvin: Leah Calvin, Certified Veterinary Technician, Independent Saddle Fitter
Leah brings 24 years of experience working in multiple fields of Veterinary Medicine through the years, including some mixed animal practices. She has independently studied saddle fit since 2009, and became an apprentice with the founder of The Right Fit Equine, Juli Ulm in 2021, who recounted that Leah has a natural talent and keen eye for saddle fitting, and extensive knowledge of the equine anatomy.

- Payment: Full payment is due 7 days prior to the clinic to reserve your appointment.
- Cancellations (More Than 24 Hours): If you cancel with more than 24 hours' notice, you may receive a 50% refund or find a replacement rider to take your appointment for a full refund.
- Cancellations (Within 24 Hours): Cancellations made less than 24 hours before your scheduled appointment are non-refundable.
- Emergencies: We understand emergencies happen. Please contact us as soon as possible, and we'll do our best to work with you when circumstances allow.
