NJTEEA STEM Teaching Grant ---$500 Award

The Innovative STEM Project Grant of $500 will be awarded to members of the New Jersey Technology and Engineering Education Association who propose an innovative technology and engineering activity that integrates science and math in a rigorous and relevant manner to promote best STEM teaching and learning. This grant should be used in the purchase of materials or equipment that support the proposed project.

The awardee will be expected to share the project outcomes as a result of donated materials through the contribution to a professional learning session either in person at their facility or online via NJTEEA programming. All materials submitted through the grant process will become property of NJTEEA to be published as a resource for our members on the NJTEEA website. The NJTEEA may reproduce copies of submitted lessons in future publication. Please note that solely original lesson plans will be considered.

Objectives/Benefits
This program has been created to:
1. Provide an incentive for the applicant who wants to integrate math and science into a technology/engineering type activity.
2. Share innovative STEM design activities with the membership.
3 . Increase opportunity to develop the area of Technology Education within STEM.
4. Provide opportunities recognize individual educators associated with the field of Technology Education focusing on STEM.
5. Increase the compendium of activities and curricula collected through the application process.

Eligibility
To be eligible for consideration for the award, an applicant must be:
1.A current paid professional member of NJTEEA.
2.Employed as a teacher or subject area supervisor, at the time of application, in a position related to Technology Education
grades K-12.

Selection
Criteria for selection are based on an abstract/summary of the activity, proposed budget, and timeline/timeframe of the
proposed activity.

Finalists may also be asked to provide additional information and materials. All decisions made by the selection committee are final. The awards will be presented to the award winner’s school board of education.

    Project Description

    Recipient Pledge

    Upon acceptance of the grant, the recipient agrees to: 1. Deliver a presentation at the NJTEEA Annual Conference and/or at an Area Workshop regarding their described activity within two (2) years following the receipt of the grant. 2. Submit an electronic summary report with several photos capturing the essence of the project to be published on the NJTEEA website. 3.Submit the activity sheet and rubric electronically outlining the assessment of the science, technology, engineering and math used in the activity funded by the grant. 4.The classroom activity, instructional plan and rubric developed outlining lessons on the math and science used.
