Memphis River Parks should deliver a consistently excellent experience for all park users. To improve the physical appearance of the parks, and to augment existing maintenance operations, the fellow in placemaking will be responsible for finding and executing quick, fast and cheap improvements to the built environment in Memphis River Parks. This could include permanent and temporary furnishings, sculptures and public art, improved or supplementary cleaning, painting and fixing and recruiting and managing volunteers to deliver an excellent place.
The fellow will be expected to develop and advance their own ideas, support existing programming, communicate effectively - particularly on social media - and build a culture of 'yes' throughout the organization.
This is a full-time position from July through the end of October. The fellow will receive a stipend of $10,000 for this role. No professional qualifications are required. Applicants should be able to demonstrate some experience in relevant fields but, more importantly, have an entrepreneurial attitude, a desire to learn and the capacity and leadership to advance their work independently.
