The City of Tucson is in the process of updating the Master Plan for John F. Kennedy Park. With this update the Parks and Recreation Department will:
- Conduct an assessment of the condition of park facilities
- Solicit public input related to the needs of park users
- Solicit public input related to the community’s vision for Kennedy Park
- Prepare a draft Master Plan showing proposed improvements
- Present the draft Master Plan to the public for review and comment
- Develop a long-range plan for park enhancements
- Identify priorities for park repair and improvement work

As a historical note, the land associated with Kennedy Park was acquired by the City from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). A condition of the acquisition was that a “plan of development” for the park be prepared and periodically updated. This Master Plan will also address the requirement for a periodic update.

The Park:
John F. Kennedy Park is a 172 acre City park is located near the intersection of Mission Road and Ajo Way in southwest Tucson. Existing facilities at Kennedy Park include:
- An urban fishing lake
- A fiesta / special events area
- Little League baseball field
- Softball field
- Multi-purpose sports fields
- Tennis and basketball courts
- Turf grass play areas
- Playgrounds
- Picnic ramadas
- Desert walking paths
- A swimming and wading pool (currently closed)
