SCoVE would like to know if you would be interested in using a Moodle site? If anyone hasn't heard of that word before, then don't worry, we will explain below!
Why SCoVE would like to use Moodle?
SCoVE has teamed up with
vetmedacademy.org! We both would like to develop a web page linked to vetmedacademy, on allowing students to access resources online. The main aim is to allow both educational institutions and students to upload educational resources they created onto a peer-reviewed website, using Moodle software. It would be similar to what vetmedacademy does now, but allow open access to students and universities to add educational material on there as well. It can then be accessed by students globally, in aid of their learning during or after vet school.
We would like to know if Moodle is available in your area?
What is a Moodle site?
It is used by thousands of educational institutions around the world to provide an organized interface for e-learning, or learning over the Internet.
Moodle allows educators to create online courses, which students can access as a virtual classroom. A typically Moodle home page will include a list of participants (including the teacher and students) and a calendar with a course schedule and list of assignments. Other Moodle features include online quizzes, forums, where students can post comments and ask questions, glossaries of terms, and links to other Web resources.
Because Moodle is open source, or freely distributed, it can be an attractive alternative to commercial e-learning options. Currently, vetmedacademy uses a moodle site and hosts online courses on their website. These resources can be accessed by students on the link below:
