This form is for Greater Austin community members interested in serving on the Greater Austin STEM Ecosystem Board or on one of the several Greater Austin STEM Ecosystem Action Teams.
BOARD:
The Greater Austin STEM Ecosystem Board is comprised of representatives from various stakeholder institutions and audiences across the area who provide core leadership for the collaborative. See current Steering Committee members at

The board:
* Provides guidance for the Ecosystem, including direction and desired outcomes and goals.
* Provides oversight to ensure fidelity to needs across the region and stakeholder organizations.
* Represents the diversity of Ecosystem members including different types, sizes, and leadership levels.
* Represents the Greater Austin area at regional events and National Community of Practice meetings.
Board member responsibilities include:
* Attending monthly board meetings on the first Friday of the month from 8:30-10 a.m (in-person on odd numbered months) and 12:00 - 1:30 p.m. (virtually on even numbered months). Subject to change if a better time works for whole committee.
* Attending additional board strategy meetings or other meetings as necessary to advance the goals of the ecosystem
* Attending quarterly STEM Networking Forums and Community Convenings
* Sharing information, resources, and ecosystem events throughout other networks, organizations and systems
* Representing the ecosystem at regional and/or national meetings and/or events
* Volunteering time and talents to the work of the ecosystem
* Working to ensure the long-term sustainability of the ecosystem (which may include fundraising, marketing, managing people resources, etc.)
* Choose one additional leadership/liaison/facilitator role to advance ecosystem operations (lead networking forum or community convenings, liaison for Action Team, manage communications strategy, serve as committee secretary, etc. - roles selected at beginning of term)
* Serving 2-year terms with option to roll to Champions Board at end of term or to continue on steering committee for another 2-year term or to roll off completely
The board divides responsibility to ensure sufficient representation at community events and national convenings with the understanding that all members are likely unable to attend everything.
Applications will be accepted October 1 through November 30. Two-year terms begin January 1, 2022 and run through December 31, 2023.
ACTION TEAMS:
The Greater Austin STEM Ecosystem is seeking Action Team members to lead and/or support programming, collaborative mapping, and/or strategy for the community. Action Teams are smaller collectives of Ecosystem stakeholders tasked with creating and advancing strategy for a particular interest area. Action Team work is aligned to Greater Austin STEM Ecosystem goals.
Action Teams:
* STEM Professional Development Providers
* Advancing Girls & Women in STEM
* Increasing Blacks and Hispanics in STEM
* STEM in Out-of-School Time
* STEM State and Federal Policy Advancement
Additional Action Teams in alignment with ecosystem goals may be added if there are interested leads and members. There is a space for "other" in the action team selection field below.
Action Team and Team Member Responsibilities:
* Create a strategy to identify, connect, foster collaborations, and amplify efforts
* Work with the Greater Austin STEM Ecosystem Steering Committee to execute the strategy
* Lead/Host/Facilitate Collab Labs or other events to advance the work of the Action Team and Greater Austin STEM Ecosystem
* Attend meetings in person or online/on-phone as needed for a successful effort
* Attend STEM Networking Forums (3-4 per year) and Collab Labs or other events as needed to gather community input and/or inform community about amplifications and Action Team activity
* Share information, resources, and ecosystem events throughout other networks, organizations and systems
* Volunteer time and talents to the work of the Greater Austin STEM Ecosystem and the Action Teams
* Ensure equity, access, social justice, and serving underrepresented groups in STEM are embedded in strategy and efforts
