Currently, the practice of reflexology is EXEMPT from the Massage Law. Which means that ANYONE can say they do reflexology and open a practice regardless of whether they have any training. Many municipalities consider this to be a "loophole" that creates an environment where human rights and public safety are being compromised. Within the last 2 years a number of municipalities (Arlington, Quincy, Weymouth, Framingham to name a few) have created specific ordinances and regulations- some with prohibitive fees and ARCB certification requirements- governing the practice of Reflexology. There are several more towns that are looking to adopt the same language. It has been the will of the MAR member body in the past to take a passive stance on legislation. Given that things are rapidly changing we need to ask again, what is the will of the MAR member body? DO YOU WISH MAR TO INVESTIGATE PURSUING A STATE REFLEXOLOGY LAW?
