2017-2018 PTA Volunteer Sheet
Please take a few minutes to complete the VOLUNTEER FORM below to let us know where your interests are in supporting our PTA throughout the upcoming school year by volunteering your time to help with the PTA events/activities. There are many opportunities for all parents, as we have a lot of evening and after-school activities that will accommodate all work schedules. If you check "yes" to any or all of the events/committees below, you will be contacted by that committee's chairperson at some time during the year to help with their event/committee.

AUGUST - NOVEMBER EVENTS
These are all events that happen in the fall.
Welcoming Committee (August) *
Volunteer to help at the Welcoming Picnic in late August to welcome incoming Kindergarten families.
School Supplies (August) *
Volunteer to help assemble school supply packets one day for 3-4 hours one/two weeks before school starts
Running Club (September) *
Volunteers help check in students or may lead a group of runners (great for working parents - scheduled after school).
Movie Night for 3rd, 4th and 5th Graders (October) *
Volunteers help chaperone movie night on a Friday evening for 2-3 hours (great for working parents).
Everybody Counts (October) *
Volunteers teach children about various disabilities and how children cope with these challenges. Time commitment is 1-2 hour during Everybody Counts Week. Curriculum is provided.
Chess Club (Mid November - End of February) *
Chess Club meets one day a week during lunch recess for approximately 8 weeks. Volunteers are needed to help set up chess boards, assist students and clean up afterward. An understanding of chess is helpful, but not necessary.
Vision / Hearing Screening Escort (November or December) *
Volunteers work 1 hour shifts helping escort children from classroom to testing room.
DECEMBER - FEBRUARY EVENTS
These events happen during the Winter months
Holiday Gift Shop (1st Saturday in December) *
PTA provides a friendly, safe place for student to do their holiday shopping. The sale is open for 3 hours the first Saturday morning in December. You may help by setting up the day before the sale or by selling at the sale. Time commitment is about 1-1/2 hours per shift (great for working parents).

Education Fair (January) *
This event happens at night. Volunteers are needed to set-up and guide children through the exhibits.
Lunchtime Readers Group Leader for 3rd, 4th and 5th Graders. (Jan & Feb) *
The LTR program is held once each week during lunch recess for a six week period in January and February. The program is for 3rd through 5th graders. Your job would be to lead a reading group of 5-8 students and hold weekly discussions on the chapters read each week. Your preparation time varies.
Fun Fair (February) *
This tradition is a themed evening of games, food, music and fun. Teaching staff & families provide this great event for the students of Ivy Hill. The success of the event relies on the many volunteers who work the games, sell tickets, donate pop/water/baked goods, or help with setup/clean up (great for working parents).

Roller Skating Night
Volunteers Needed to check students in and out at the Orbit Skating Rink.
MARCH - JUNE EVENTS
These events happen during the spring months.
Movie Night for Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd Graders (March) *
Volunteers help chaperone movie night on a Friday evening for 2-3 hours (great for working parents).
Book Fair (March) *
This is a one-night event to celebrate the love of reading. Help is needed to set up books, handle sales during the fair, and take down displays afterward (great for working parents).

Volunteers help check in students or may lead a group of runners (great for working parents - scheduled after school).
Field Day (Usually Last Friday in May) *
Volunteers work either the morning or afternoon session depending on their childs grade. The duties include race starter, finish line judge, referee, etc.
ON GOING OPPORTUNITIES
These are events that take place multiple times throughout the school year.
Library Media Center (LMC) Circulation Desk *
Each class visits the LMC on a weekly basis to check out library books and materials. Volunteers are needed to staff the circulation desk. Volunteers typically work 2-3 hours, one day per week, for an 6 or 8 week period. This may change depending on LMC needs. Every effort is made to assign volunteers to your own child’s LMC time. Help is also needed at the end of May to do a complete inventory.
Required
Garden Committee *
Garden Committee will meet in the spring, summer, and fall. Volunteers are needed to help with cleaning up, planting, watering, weeding and harvesting the garden. Gardening knowledge is not necessary but helpful.
Musical Productions *
Volunteers videotape each grade’s shows and provide DVDs for purchase. Equipment is provided.
Room Rep
Volunteers work closely with each classroom teacher to host the Halloween and Valentine parties and help coordinate Teacher Appreciation week activities. Room reps may also handle special teacher requests.
Please check each grade you would like to help out with for Room Rep responsibilities. *
If you have more than one child attending Ivy, we recommend you only select one grade as the Room Rep responsibilities occur at the same time for the entire school and it's difficult for parents to help in multiple classrooms.

Hospitality *
Volunteers cook, bake, or supply food for Teacher Appreciation Breakfast. Desserts for Parent/Teacher Conferences.
Yearbook Photographers *
Volunteers are needed to take and upload pictures throughout the year at various school events. The Yearbook Committee is looking for pictures of students and volunteers only. Group shots are highly encouraged. You will be contacted to find out what events you are available for.
