2027 Moroccan National Debate Team (MNDT) Tryouts Application
*THIS APPLICATION IS ONLY FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. 

Its that time of the year again! Time for the next MNDT (aka The Alas Lions of Debate) team selections! The next MNDT will compete and represent Morocco at the 2027 world and continental championship of debating. The MNDT was founded in 2014 and this will be our 13th MNDT.  Morocco Debate Association coaching staff will be conducting online tryouts in late September. The MNDT is a debate team that competes in English only. Students with or without debate experience can tryout for this team. Having experience is not required to tryout but it is helpful. 

SELECTION PROCEDURE 

Students will have individual interviews where they will to debate one-on-one and present public speaking speech. The debate will be an impromptu topic with 15 minutes of preparation time and the speech must be prepared before the interview. For the public speaking speech, you can choose any topic you want and you can start preparing as soon as you fill out our application form below. The application fee is 150MAD.

The top 11 debaters will be chosen with the top 5 debaters being placed on the national team that will attend the 2026 World Schools Debating Championship (WSDC) in Bulgaria. The 6 remaining debaters will be placed on the Development team. Once the MNDT/WSDC team and the Development team are chosen, they will begin having training sessions in groups of 5 or 6 with their team coaches.

Tryouts will be begin in from August until September. You will be invited for an online interview, which last about an hour each student, on Zoom during those dates mentioned above. We plan to have the selections done and announced by September 20th.
