Home Plate families are those that have a desire to host students and contribute to the life of the College in a personal way. Host families live in the area and may or may not be employed by Smith College. Students are assigned in groups of 2-3 to create a more comfortable atmosphere. They are interested in providing at least a home cooked meal once a semester. Beyond that it is up to the family and student if they would like to enjoy other activities. They may find themselves engaging in such things as:

Many families and students simply enjoy hanging out and getting to know one another in a relaxed atmosphere. Students will have the opportunity to make local connections off campus. The Home Plate Program offers you just the break you may need from classes, resident life and campus food!
