2025 CUMPC Organizing Committee Application

Thank you for your interest in joining the 2025 Canadian Undergraduate Medical Physics Conference (CUMPC) Organizing Committee! 

What is CUMPC?

CUMPC is a free, virtual conference set to take place at the end of the summer. The goal of this conference is to provide a professional platform dedicated to undergraduate students, offering them an early career opportunity to present their summer research, network, and learn from medical physics professionals and graduate students. Since launching its first edition in 2022, CUMPC has been a tremendous success and received lots of positive feedback from the participants. Many thanks to outstanding presenters, wonderful speakers, generous sponsors, and most importantly, every organizer in the past editions.

Why should you apply? 

This student-led conference provides leadership, learning and networking opportunities throughout the planning phase.

Who is eligible for the application?

Both graduate and undergraduate students are eligible to fill out the application form! The opportunity is prioritized to be given to those who are in medical physics or related programs. In this form, please provide some information about yourself, describe your motivation for joining the CUMPC organizing team, and detail any relevant experience you had

CUMPC Organizing Committee Positions
The CUMPC Organizing Committee consists of several subcommittees:

Scientific Review Subcommittee
Tasks include establishing the abstract submission rules, including an abstract template, and managing the reviewing process, including the recruitment of external reviewers.

Information Technology (IT) Subcommittee
Role is to implement and manage the technical aspects of each step of the organization, such as: website management, abstract and presentation submission platform, technical support before and during the conference, and the design, planning, logistics, and  management  of the online conference.

Outreach Subcommittee
Role is to publicize the conference across Canada through emails and social networks, produce promotion material and collect feedback after the conference.

Presentation Judges Subcommittee
Tasks are to establish a rubric for the oral presentation (or posters if applicable) and recruit external judges to grade each session. It also includes providing examples for the participating students.

Speaker & External Sponsorships Subcommittee
In charge of reaching out to potential speakers (keynotes and/or panelists) and for recruiting external sponsors. It also includes provide a theme for keynote and panel sessions.
