Just as TED talks are all about the powerful ideas behind them, TEDxSaltLakeCity strives to have an equally diverse and thought provoking set of onstage performances as well. More than just entertainment, an artistic and masterful performance is how one generation teaches the next its culture's traditions, values, pageantry, how to celebrate or mourn, and especially, how to strive for something higher than oneself.
Before you apply, please ask yourself: As powerful as your performance can be, can it also be intellectually and emotionally compelling to a large audience craving to be inspired? How can your artistry move beyond entertainment and become a highlight of an already powerhouse day? What contribution will you make to our event through your performance?
If this sounds like a challenge, it is. The effort is one thing, the tenacity another, but the guts to stand up and say "by the way, this performance is brilliant" is what we admire the most.
One of the primary goals of TEDxSaltLakeCity is to build community. We feature artists from our local community and we foster their relationships with the other artists, speakers, and committee members with the objective of building long-lasting connections. We strongly encourage our performers to attend at least two VIP events and gain inspiration from other members of the TEDxSaltLakeCity family.
Submissions will be accepted March 29 - April 30, 2019. All communication with applicants will be done through email.
Performances will be approximately 10 minutes long and a dress rehearsal is required on Sept 20th.
TEDxSaltLakeCity will be held Saturday, September 21, 2019, at Kingsbury Hall.
