Third Party Restoration Opportunities On or Near NFS Lands
The U.S. Forest Service WO is looking to identify a pipeline of potential landscapes ripe for third party restoration partnerships on or adjacent to National Forest System lands. Third party restoration partnerships can accelerate restoration on NFS lands and protection of lands adjacent to NFS ownership in support of resilient landscapes and balancing impacts of large disturbances.

The intent of this feedback form is to help the Forest Service and third party restoration providers collaborate to complete due diligence and scoping for opportunities to compensate for any potential residual impacts from land disturbing activities. We welcome your feedback regarding planned/ permitted/ pending infrastructure development in the near future (<5 years) on or adjacent to NFS units with significant anticipated impacts to wetlands and streams. We also welcome your feedback on high priority wetland and stream resources in need of restoration.

We ask that you please fill out one form per anticipated infrastructure project. These projects could be transportation, development, energy, housing, or water related. The projects should have significant impacts to critical wetland, stream, and habitat resources. These projects should occur in watersheds of NFS ownership at the HUC-8 level.

Which National Forest or Grassland do you represent? *
Briefly describe the type and scale (acres, miles, etc.) of infrastructure project that is anticipated. Is it expanding or modifying existing infrastructure, or developing new infrastructure? *
Who is (are) the lead developer(s) or proponent(s) of the project? *
Is the project on, overlapping with, or off NFS lands? *
What are the primary HUC-8 watersheds in which impacts will be felt most severely (names and reference IDs#)?
If the project is off NFS land, what is the distance from the closest NFS unit? Is it within the same HUC-8 watershed boundary or service area as the closest NFS unit?
What is the current status of the project? *
Describe the type and approximate scale (acres, miles, etc.) of impacts that will be incurred (wetland, stream, and/or T&E habitat impacts). *
How has FS engaged to date, if at all, in the project? What other partners are engaged in the project? How?
Are there high priority wetland, stream, or T&E habitat resources on NFS lands near the project in need of restoration? Are there legacy impacts that need to be addressed (AMD, dam removal, etc.)? If yes, please generally describe extent of need (acres, miles, etc.) and which HUC digit area it shares with the project impacts (e.g., HUC-8? HUC-6?).
Is this restoration potential NEPA approved?

Are there wetland, stream, or T&E habitat resources on lands adjacent to NFS ownership and near the project in need of restoration? If yes, please generally describe extent of need (acres, miles, etc.) and which HUC digit area it shares with the project impacts (e.g., HUC-8? HUC-6?).
Please also articulate if adjacent resources are prioritized for protection in FS Landownership Adjustment Strategy, State Forest Action Plan, etc.
Are GIS layers available?
