Here are a few details:JOURNEYS IN LEARNING: ON-SITE IN ENGLAND WITH JANEAUSTEN, CHARLOTTE BRONTE, AND VIRGINIA WOOLFSeptember 10-22, 2019During this 13-day literary journey in England, the lives and works of three renowned women authors will come alive. Site visits to village and city places directly relevant to our three featured authors’ personal worlds and fictional settings willbe integrated with animated discussions of three novels: Austen’s "Persuasion"; Charlotte Bronte’s "Jane Eyre" and Virginia Woolf’s "Night and Day."
The tour will also include a St. Kate’s-related visit to the gorgeous gothic ruins of Whitby Abbey, after which our own Whitby Hall is named. The itinerary will lift up the importance of women, both historically and in literature.St. Kate’s 2011 Bonnie Jean and Joan Kelly Faculty Excellence award winning professor of English, Geri Chavis, will lead the trip with Alumnae/i Relations Chapter Manager, Kelly Povo ‘09.
