Enrollment for the Special Education Program is now available! Students that are a part of the program will be able to take slow-paced academic level courses for their strengths and needs. As we get through the school year, there will be many benefits, gifts, and perks of being in the program.
Special Education Program Requirements:
- Must complete work in the class
- Must attend 3 school sessions weekly.
- No recent behavioral offenses
- Have disabilities/illnesses to warrant your placement in the program
- Must be in the Discord.
- Must have a current and up to date IEP

Attendance Requirements:
Attendance will be taken daily and during every period for all students within the program. Students that have up to 2 unexcused absences will receive a warning from the Special Education Program Coordinator regarding his/her attendance. If a student reaches 4 consecutive absences, the student will be removed from the program. Students that are going to be out for the day must notify the current Special Education Instructor before school so that it will be counted as an excused absence for that day.

Special Education Behavioral Approach:
Being apart of DeSoto's Special Education program is not an excuse for students to misbehave and cause disruptions throughout the duration of the school day. If a student that's placed in the program receives three referrals on the behavioral tracker, the student will be placed back into the General Education setting and won't be eligible for future placement into the program.
