The "Battalion Coffee Group" spans back 200 years of U.S military history and it continues to evolve in purpose, function and participants. Today's traditional coffee groups usually include spouses of officers, tracked warrant officers, and senior NCO’s of the unit.
While we will honor that tradition, we also open this up to any spouse in 3-1 who is interested in getting acquainted with and forming friendships with other unit spouses. Afterall, our Soldiers spend most of their days working together and nobody understands the strains we are under, like fellow spouses.
To be clear, this group will not trump the importance of the company level and battalion level Soldier and Family Readiness Group (SFRG), where Commanders, Advisors, and Coordinators share official unit information.
The Nightmare "Coffee" Group will be optional, social in nature, will wear no rank, and will meet various days, times, and locations. The events can occur as often as monthly and planning can fall to any member interested in hosting. Hosting can be at a person's home, at a restaurant, or another public place. Sometimes, an activity is involved such as crafting, playground, yoga, wine tasting, volunteering, game night, axe throwing, painting...the possibilities are endless! These gatherings are meant for adult socialization so they are typically child-free. However, some events may be child-friendly and will be indicated on the invitation. Invites will go out via Evite and RSVP's are appreciated for planning purposes.
