Hello!
Thank you for your interest in joining the Balinese Gamelan class in Easton every Tuesday evening!
What to expect: A gamelan ensemble consists of 15 - 20 percussion instruments each with a different role within the ensemble. We will learn the interlocking rhythms and melodies that make up the shimmering soundscape of the gamelan.
NOTE: Many of the instruments require sitting on the floor, (cushions provided) although I have some stools available for those with mobility issues.
The Summer term sessions are on the following dates:
21st and 28th April
5th and 19th May
2nd, 9th, 16th and 30th of June
Address: Tit4Tat, Cato Street, Easton.
Timings:
6pm Arrive
6.15 - 7.15pm - Beginners / Drop in Session
7.15 - Tea & Biscuit Break
7.30 - 8.30pm - Intermediate Session
All are welcome to come to the beginners class - this will be a slower paced session going over playing techniques and exploring all the different instruments while learning simple traditional pieces.
The intermediate class is faster paced and will be learning more complex material. They are aimed for those who have experience playing gamelan / percussion music.
I run a tiered system to make classes as accessible as possible. The supporter tier helps subsidise the concession tier, however I don't want to turn anyone away for lack of funds so please get in touch and we can find a rate that's affordable.
Per class: £10 concession / £12 standard / £15 supporter
If you'd like to book a chunk of 6 or more classes then prices lower to:
£8 concession /£10 standard / £13 supporter
Please send payment via bank transfer (ask me for details) or I can take cash in person.
Thank you so much,
Isis
