⭐️ LIVE CREATORS  👉 Bring your creativity to life on the farm! We welcome all visual arts media, from painting and sculpting to weaving and projection, to create stunning live artwork during the festival.
⭐️ LIVE PRESENTERS 👉 Are you a teacher, workshop leader, roving performer, or theatrical host? Share your talents and engage our audience with interactive and dynamic presentations.

Installations Application:

Artists, sculptors, builders, dreamers - apply here to bring your innovation to the Farm. We are looking for physical, visual art experiences to amaze and inspire our guests.

For over 26 years Shambhala Music Festival has been a massive canvas for visiting creatives. Do you have something truly inspiring you want to share with our Farmily? We are looking for a variety of presenters to dazzle our attendees with their offerings. At Shambhala Music Festival we live for inclusion and connection please consider this when composing your project proposals

APPLICATIONS CLOSE: February 6, 2026

Things to consider when composing your application.

Shambhala is a large site with a lot going on visually, consider how your work will make an impact; is it large scale, innovative or show stopping?

Our guests enjoy the work day and night! Lighting is really important, please take the time to consider not only how it will look in the day time or vice versa if it is engineered for the dark how will it read in the daytime?

Is your installation 3D? Most of our sites are approachable from all sides, successful applicants would consider how their work interacts with the landscape. Booth type pieces are not the best fit as they often read as two dimensional and are hard to place.

All installations must be completed by Monday July 20 at 8pm for our public safety walk through before guests arrive onsite Tuesday July 21.

All installations must stay up until 8 am Tuesday July 28th

Budget and compensation

The funds provided by SMF are considered rental fee for sharing your work during our event and in no way reflect the actual costs of creating the work you plan to bring. Please compile a realistic budget that includes materials, time your travel expenses and anything else required for this project. We like to see proper realistic planning so we know you will be able to achieve and present without hardship your entire project.

We look forward to reviewing your submissions.

  • Due to the volume of applicants, only those under consideration will be contacted.

Shambhala 2025 Installation Categories
In order to provide opportunities for artists at all stages of their career, we have created three categories that you can choose from:

Small scale, intimate experience, Emerging artist

Compensation: 2 tickets and $500.

Are you just starting out creating work and would love an opportunity to share it? This category is for smaller scale work, intimate experiences for our guests to discover. Some of the feed back we received from our attendees in 2024 is that they love small hidden gems, what could you make to bring that magical feeling of discovery? Successful applicant to this category would demonstrate a high level craftsman ship in the physical execution of their projects but on a smaller more manageable scale to create and transport.

Innovative ideas on a larger scale

2 tickets and $1000-$1500

Are you experienced in creating and showing at events and have something you think would be a good fit for our festival? Successful applicant to this category would demonstrate past experience presenting as well as an innovative design on a larger scale than the emerging artist category. Installations would be well lit and integrate within our infrastructure.

Huge impact installations from Professional artists

Tickets TBD & funding starting at $1500

This is a category for big ideas! Successful applicants would demonstrate past experience presenting at professional events, as well as a good understanding of what a dynamic art experience looks and feels like. These installations are interactive with dynamic lighting and would have a huge visual impact on our large site. SMF reserves the right to not choose any installations from this category to host if none of the applicants suit our unique needs.

What considerations have you taken to ensure the safety of our guests while they experience your project?

People on vacation are often paying less attention to their own safety, visiting installations must consider tripping hazards created by the design, and mitigate any sharp or protruding elements or anything else that could cause bodily harm.

We are an all weather event, that means your work needs to be able to with stand high winds and rain. It must be securely anchored to the ground. All ground anchoring must obtain a dig permit from the SMF Site office, permits can take time please plan accordingly.

Shambhala Music Festival considers the safety of our guests first when it comes to selection of art works to feature, please consider if your design is a wind sail or climbable. We do not use our trees as rigging anchors. All applications must have a plan to support their own elements within their installation.

Are you a returning Attraction? *
How do you plan to light your project for nighttime viewing? Simple color wash LED’s go a long way in transforming a shape at nighttime. Successful installations don’t need to include fancy integrated, programmed lighting but it’s cool if they do
If you are returning, please describe your past project and the years you've previously worked at the Festival:
Has this installation been shown at other events? if yes please list event and year shown.
