ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP shall be a doctor of medicine or
doctor of osteopathy living in, legally practicing in, or licensed to practice
medicine in the state of Alabama. Active members shall have the privilege of
participation in all proceedings of this Society, and they shall be eligible to
hold any office, or to receive any honor of the Society, so long as they have
complied with the Constitution and Bylaws, and provided they are free from all
indebtedness to this Society.
ASSOCIATE
MEMBERSHIP shall be open to persons with doctoral-level
degrees in the health sciences, health services and health administration.
Postgraduate Physicians training in a program accredited by the Accreditation
Council on Graduate Medical Education or the American Osteopathic Association’s
Program in the state of Alabama may become Associate Members of the Capital
City Medical Society. Medical students training in a school accredited by the
Liaison Committee on Medical Education or the American Osteopathic
Association’s Committee on Osteopathic College Accreditation may become
Associate Members of the Capital City Medical Society.
ALLIED
HEALTH MEMBERSHIP Individuals who are Physician
Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, or who are licensed to practice an
allied-health discipline by the state of Alabama may become Allied Health
Members of the National Medical Association.
EMERITUS
MEMBERSHIP occurs after the age seventy (70)
and following twenty (20) years of documented, active Society membership,
distinguished by exemplary service to the Capital City Medical Society. The
applicant must be nominated by a current member in good standing and be
approved by the Board of Trustees. Emeritus members are granted lifetime
membership status with a waiver of annual membership.
