Your contact network contains those individuals that help you get things done at work, and ultimately get ahead.  This instrument captures information on your network, and organizes it to facilitate analysis of its specific characteristics, and of the systematic features of managers' networks.  We'll use your responses to help you analyze your own network and identify opportunities for your career, so take the time to complete this exercise carefully -- its value to you will depend on the quality of your responses.  Your responses are confidential, and the details of your network will not be shown to anyone except you.  

  We'll use the results as a basis of discussion aimed at helping you to understand what an effective network is, and therefore help you improve your own.  I have to analyze the networks before then, and print your network graphs (which I give to you), so please return the completed survey by returning it to me electronically as instructed.  I may refer to the aggregate features of the networks in an article about managerial networks, but no individuals will be identified or identifiable.
