Dear artists,

On Saturday, June 4, 2016, AIDS Connecticut (ACT) will hold our annual Art for AIDS fundraiser at Hartford ArtSpace. We are recruiting up to 100 artists to again participate in this event. The funds will benefit ACT and a portion will go to ACT’s Endowment Fund: The Richard B. Fried Fund at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving. 

Here's how it will work: ACT will provide each artist with a 12" x 12" canvas (limit of three canvases per artist). Canvases will be ready for pick up at Jerry’s Artarama in West Hartford starting on April 1, 2016(please don't try to pick them up before then). Artists will create art on the 12" x 12" canvases and deliver them to ArtSpace on Thursday, June 2 from 3:00 - 7:30 p.m. Alternatively, they can be delivered to ACT at 110 Bartholomew Ave, Suite 3050 in Hartford anytime before June 2. Please call Wendy before you come (860) 402-8790 x 320. We can arrange art pick ups if needed - just give us notice ASAP.

The 12" x 12" works will be direct donations to ACT. However, for each 12" x 12" canvas donated, the artist will be able to show one of their existing artworks (size 4' x 5' max per piece), that can be available for sale in the exhibit. Artists will receive 80% of the proceeds from the sale of these pieces, while ACT will receive 20%.

Contributing artists may attend the event at no cost as a thanks for your donation (one ticket per artist). However, if donating artists would also like to participate in the art grab, they will pay the regular price ($500/Winner’s Circle, $200/Exclusive VIP, $100/VIP or $50/GA). The Winner’s Circle will be the first person to "grab" art, The Exclusive VIP will be the next 10 to "grab" art, the VIP will be the next 20 to "grab" art, and the GA will "grab" the remaining art. The "grabbing" will be based on a lottery system to reduce chaos.

The event will feature lots of complimentary food, wine/beer and music, along with 200+ guests.

We hope we can count on you for this exciting and worthwhile event that supports the Fried Fund and ACT’s mission: AIDS Connecticut (ACT), in partnership with its member agencies, improves the lives of people impacted by HIV through care and supportive services, housing, advocacy and prevention.

Please only commit to this event if 1) you are going to create art; 2) you can drop it off at ArtSpace on June 2 between 3:00 - 7:30 p.m.; and 3) you agree to pick up (or make arrangements for pick up ) of any unsold art at ArtSpace on Sunday, June 5 between 10AM - 4PM or after 10:30 p.m. on June 4 (after event slows down).
