On-line Application for STEAM Club - Longs Creek Elementary 2015-2016

This year, Robotic's Club is evolving into... STEAM Club!
STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math.
This year, the club will incorporate Robotics (in the fall), and Lego Challenges and Computer Programming (in the spring).

STEAM Club will meet after school on most Mondays in Mrs. Bimler's room (Room #20) and Mrs. Applegates' room (Room #22). We dismiss STEAM students at the FRONT of the building at 4:00 p.m..

Positions available in STEAM Club are limited:
- 4th and 5th grade students who participated in Robotics last year will be given first priority.
- After that, available slots will be filled with 4th and 5th applicants.
- If any slots remain, 3rd graders may have the opportunity to be in STEAM Club.
- If there are no slots available for 3rd graders, this year's 3rd grade applicants will have priority for the 2016-2017 school year.

Before signing up for STEAM, please, consider:
Students will be expected to commit to the Monday STEAM Club meetings.
- Students who are absent 2 times will be released from STEAM on their third absence.
- When absent, students should bring a note from a parent/guardian explaining the absence (email is acceptable).
[Note: If all absences are for valid reasons, exceptions may be made to the 3 absence rule, if email/notes have been sent.]

Out of respect for your time and ours, we will do our best to exit the building at 4:00. Students can be picked up in front of the school. Students must be picked up promptly at 4:00 p.m; any student who is picked up late three times will be released from STEAM. If you anticipate the 4:00 pick-up time being a problem, please consider carpooling with another family. Often times, the teachers who volunteer with STEAM have evening commitments; thus, the pick-up time will be strictly enforced.

There will be a one-time $20 fee ($10 dues, plus $10 t-shirt fundraiser fee). If you are writing a check, you must write two separate checks for $10 each (due to new regulations, the separate t-shirt payment is required this year). Money collected is used to purchase t-shirts, snacks and STEAM Club materials. If dues and t-shirt fee are a problem for your family, please let us know. Financial reasons should not keep you from applying to STEAM. Payment is due on the first day of STEAM Club.

STEAM Club members are expected to be in good standing at Longs Creek. Excessive tardies, excessive absences, or an unreasonable amount of missing assignments in the regular classroom could result in dismissal from STEAM. We appreciate your understanding and consideration of the STEAM Club expectations before signing up for STEAM. We are looking forward to a great year!

Please complete this on-line application by Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at midnight*.
