Botetourt County Fair "Poultry Chain" Poultry Show and Poultry Chain Pullet Produced Eggs
***THIS DIVISION IS OPEN ONLY TO BOTETOURT AND ALLEGHANY 4-H/FFA YOUTH WHO RECEIVED DAY-OLD PULLETS THROUGH THE BOTETOURT COUNTY 4-H POULTRY CHAIN PROGRAM.  Open Class Birds for 4-H and FFA youth should be entered on the "Botetourt County Fair 4-H/FFA Open Class Poultry Show" form.

Registration Deadline: Friday, August 4th
Check-in: Friday, August 11th between 3:00-5:00 p.m.

**All birds must be checked-in and in place between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Friday, August 11th**

Schedule:  Birds will be judged for showmanship & conformation on Friday, August 11th. Conformation judging begins at 6 p.m. Showmanship judging begins at 7 p.m.


Showmanship Classes                                           Birth Date
Senior Showmanship                            16-19 years of age (as of 9/30/23)
Intermediate Showmanship                            13-15 years of age (as of 9/30/23)
       Junior Showmanship                            9-12 years of age (as of 9/30/23)
Cloverbud Showmanship                    5 - 8 years of age (as of 9/30/23)


Conformation Classes  
Single Pullet (maximum of 2 birds/exhibitor)
Pen of Three Pullets (maximum of 1 pen/exhibitor)
        Poultry Chain Pullet Produced Eggs (see rule 4 below)



Rules

1. Each Botetourt County and Alleghany County Poultry Chain Participant will enter one pen of three and two    individual birds in the Poultry Chain Division.
2. These five birds from each poultry chain exhibitor will be auctioned during the Botetourt County Fair Livestock Auction on Saturday, August 12th, at 2:00 pm.  Exhibitors MUST be present to carry their birds during the auction.
3. There is NO ENTRY FEE for Poultry Chain birds.
4. The Poultry Chain Pullet Produced Egg Class is open to Botetourt and Alleghany County 4-H Youth who have participated in the 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 Poultry Chain Project.  Exhibitors may enter one dozen eggs that were produced by hens raised through a previous poultry chain project.  One entry per exhibitor per poultry chain year is the limit.  If an exhibitor has co-mingled their hens from different years then only one dozen should be entered.
