Hello,
Thank you for your interest in the GIFT of Troost Artist Collective Grant — we’re thrilled to have you here and excited to learn more about your work!
About Us
Powered by Troost 39 Thrift Store, The GIFT of Troost is more than a collective — it’s a movement. Founded by Chuck Wurth, alongside his son Charles and wife Toni, the mission is to build a thriving ecosystem where Black art is not only celebrated but deeply valued.
Through direct grant funding, community gatherings, and curated opportunities, The GIFT of Troost continues to support and uplift Black visual artists across a wide range of mediums — enriching Kansas City’s cultural landscape and sharing that brilliance with the world.
We believe in the power of art to connect, heal, and inspire change. That’s why we remain committed to making this transformative medium accessible and sustainable for Black artists.
We also recognize the systemic challenges many Black artists face — from limited visibility to barriers in funding. The GIFT of Troost is dedicated to listening to the community, eliminating those obstacles, and creating a space for growth, storytelling, and cultural pride.
