From July 10th-21st, a delegation of educators, change-shapers, and organizers from all over the world (including from within Nicaragua) will come together in Nicaragua. Our experience together will be facilitated by "Fundación Escuela Kairos para la Formación" (The Kairos School for Formation Foundation), best known as "Escuela Kairós," a long-standing and experienced popular-education organization based in Nicaragua.
During our ten days together, we will immerse deeply in our collective history, as individuals, peoples and nations. We will explore various ways of educating for liberation, learning with and from one another. We will exchange pedagogy and curriculum, engage in daily body-based practices such as yoga, biodanza, or tai chi to facilitate individual and cultural healing, learn restorative and transformative justice techniques, engage with Joanna Macy's Work that Reconnects, and build relationships with participants as well as Nicaraguans from the communities and organizations we will spend time with.
There will also be ample room for members of the delegation to shape the experience -- the particular questions and skills that you bring will mold our time together. In addition, we'll spend restorative and reflective time in nature throughout our ten days, with a full day at the beautiful natural volcanic lagoon, Laguna de Apoyo.
The cost of the trip is $1,500 per person, not including airfare. This covers food, lodging, potable drinking water at all times, language interpretation, in country transportation, facilititation, yoga, biodanza, and tai chi. We are happy to work out a payment plan that works for you and help you brainstorm fundraising possibilities if the cost is prohibitive. We also have a limited number of partial scholarships available based on economic need.
