Repairing
and remodelling St Ives.
We want
this beautiful Grade II listed building to offer a warm welcome to everybody.
At present the
East wall is collapsing due to the structural integrity being compromised. It
suffers from damp and cold, causing bulging and cracking.
We intend
to work with heritage accredited architects and other specialists to come up
with proposals to repair and remodel the building to meet the needs of the
congregation, and (we hope) both villagers and visitors. This will make the
church a building ‘fit for purpose’, sustainable for future generations, energy
efficient and an energy resilience hub for the village in case of emergencies.
Our proposed
plans for repairing and remodelling St Ives Church include:
·
Rebuilding the East wall (This will mean scaffolding the east part of
the building for several months.)
·
Installing a kitchen
·
Creating a meeting room and heritage hub
·
Adapting worship space for private prayer/reflection/smaller services
·
Installing a new energy efficient heating system (in line with CofE
carbon neutral targets by 2030)
·
Rewiring, including installation of PV panels/batteries
·
Installing internet and IT facilities.
·
Reorganising the layout of the church (to increase flexible use of the space
and create much needed storage)
We plan
to:
·
include a conservation management plan provided by a heritage accredited
building specialist to help us plan repairs and annual maintenance of our
historic building.
