RTC Application

Resident Tutors/Counselors (RTC) are needed for the Center for Student Success Pre-Freshman Summer Program for MAP and Invest-In-Success Scholarship students. The Summer Program will run from Sunday, August 10, 2014 – Wednesday, August 20, 2014. There are 6 incoming student participants for the summer program. RTC Application Deadline is Monday, April 14th by 9am.

Subject Areas: Math (1 position) and Writing (1 position)

Duties:
-Participate in RTC training on Thursday, August 7th.
-Help move-in and welcome students on opening day.
-Attend your subject area class with the pre-freshman students.
-Run individual and group study labs as scheduled.
-Attend weekly meetings with the professional staff and other meetings as required.
-Monitor students throughout the program.
-Submit regular reports.
-Live in Residence Hall with participants during the duration of the summer program.
-Serve on on-call rotation with other RTC.
-Enforce program rules including those regarding curfews and visitors.
-Schedule and moderate group meetings with students as needed.
-Respond to general student concerns.
-Responsible for general problem solving.
-Respond to medical situation(s) during summer program.
-Attend social events during the weekdays and weekend.
-Required to stay on campus at all times.

Expectations:
-RTCs will follow all Program and College rules and regulations.
-RTCs will act at all times as role models.
-RTCs will work with the staff as part of a dynamic team.

Qualifications:
-Undergraduate students who are rising upperclassman (sophomores, juniors and seniors).
-B/ 3.0 average in Writing/English or Math coursework, depending on position that you are applying for.
-Related experience in a student leadership, bridge, or summer program for students.
-Supervisory experience.
-An effective role model who enjoys working with students individually and in groups to foster academic, personal and social -growth.
-Two letters of recommendation –one from a professor (Writing/English or Math course) and/or employer.
Good academic and social standing at the College.

Compensation:
-$500.00 for the two-week summer program (you will receive your check at the end of the summer program)
-On-campus housing
-Meals
-All extra-curriculum activities will be paid for by office
