Did you know that in our city 1 in 3 children under the age of 18 have at least 1 immigrant parent? Immigrant churches bring the zeal and fire of the Global Church but often struggle with discipling the next generation that is growing up here in the US in the midst of a different culture and different challenges. Yet alll churches in Austin, immigrant and non-immigrant, wrestle with how to pass on the faith to the next generation. As has been said “the church is always one generation away from extinction.”
This last February 70 pastors and leaders from diverse contexts came together for lunch and round-table conversation around the theme of Mutuality. Join us again on Wednesday, October 9th for a follow-up round-table lunch on how we can partner together in raising up the next generation in ATX. This roundtable will be an opportunity to build cross-cultural relationships with pastors and leaders from the nations and with non-immigrant churches and ministries from around the city. Join us in discussing and praying for kingdom collaboration in reaching the next generation.
Among several special guests, we will also get to hear from Pastor Sam Teka, a second generation Ethiopian pastor who works with churches around how to best reach and equip the next generation. Save the date!
Location: For the City Center (500 E St John's Ave).
Day/Time: Wednesday Oct 9 11:30-1:30pm
A free immigrant made lunch will be provided with an optional donation opportunity presented.
